Privacy Matters

We are tracked on almost every site that we go to. There are a few ways to keep the information that we give out to a minimum.

You can delete “cookies”, which are some of the things that websites use to track the information that you unknowingly send out.
You’ll have to find out how to get into your web browsers privacy settings, and there should be a “cookies” tab, and you can delete
them from there. Also, some web browsers have settings that you can adjust so that you can block some “cookies”, and allow others
that help you out.

Another way websites track you is by installing “beacons” to your computer. None of the major browsers have ways to track and/or delete
“beacons”. The only way you can track or delete them is by installing “plug-ins”.

The last way that websites track you is “Flash cookies”. These are what video streaming sites such as Youtube use to remember your
frequent settings like your volume and video quality. You can go to an Adobe website to track and delete these, and you can also choose
whether or not you want to allow further third-party “flash cookies”.

Every day you are being tracked. People that work with websites like Google know every website you go to when you use their browser. What do you call these people? Stalkers, creeps, freaks, these are only a few of names they can be called. But who are these people? You may not know them but they surely know you, and by the looks of it they know a lot about you.

There are some people that want to know more about you so they will come up to you and ask about it. These, “Super Nerds” don’t even know you but at the same time they do. Some of these people may know more about you than what you know about you.

We took a survey at Green High School to see how students and teachers reacted when we told them that they were being tracked.
Many thought it isnt right that these World of Warcraft Playing Super mega nerds can track anything you have on the internet.

Online Tracking

Google, Facebook, MySpace, and others are simple sites you visit everyday. Ever notice those annoying ads that pop up on your screen, asking if your interested in something or other? Do you know that the ads are intended to pop up on your screen based on the sites you go to? Yes, theses websites track your internet activity and based on the sites you go to and what you look up, they sponsor ads on what they think you might be interested in. Sometimes, companies can sell your information to other sites, so that they can do the same thing. Now, with all that said, do you feel that the ability that sites have, to be able to record your internet activity and sell it to others, is wrong? We went around and asked people for their opinion, and these are the results we came up with. Some people felt that this was invading their privacy and that they do not want companies to know where they’re going and what sites their using. Some people said that they did not think of this as a big deal, and that this actually works, they end up actually buying some of the stuff being advertised to them. They feel that this is a useful tool for business. What do you think?

According to Barbara Parkes, owner of K-9 Carts West, “Americans are spending more and more money on their pets, not just to spoil them, but for their injuries when they’re ill.” These injuries are helping the makers of pet wheelchairs the opportunity to make money. With all kinds of animals, such as dogs, ferrets, and even goats, there are mulitple types of wheelchairs. With people spending all this money insuring their pets you have to wonder how much you really spend, pampering your pets.
